The Maasai Mara
In the Maasai language, ‘Mara’ means ‘spotted’ – that’s how the low, bushy trees which dot the landscape tend to look from afar. Our Maasai Mara pendant, rings and earrings are set to turn heads. They’re inspired by the colours and patterns of Maasai textiles and jewellery, including the traditional red robes known as shúkà, echoed here through fire opal and spessartite garnet.

The Maasai Mara
The Maasai Mara Pendant
Pendant inspired by Maasai textiles, featuring an octagonal-shaped fire opal, brilliant cut mandarin garnets, rare teal sapphires and tsavorites, set in yellow gold.
“The Maasai Mara collection uses very vibrant colours – fire opals, mandarin garnets, tsavorites and uses geometric motifs but then partners those with an organic element, which is the cowry shell, which for centuries has been prized in jewellery and also sewn into garments as a decorative item.”
The Maasai Mara Rings
A vibrant collection of rings inspired by the colours of the Maasai Mara. One design features a kite-shaped pink sapphire surrounded by brilliant cut mandarin garnets and tsavorites, while others are set with either a cushion-shaped green tourmaline or an oval spessartite garnet, each adorned with a lively mix of tsavorites, mandarin garnets and rubies. All set in yellow gold.
The Maasai Mara Earrings

Around Africa in 10 Days
In October 2024, Boodles President Nicholas Wainwright and his niece Honour set off on an unforgettable adventure across Africa, a journey that would become the beating heart of our latest High Jewellery collection. From boarding the Blue Train in South Africa to soaring over the Maasai Mara in a hot air balloon, they travelled in search of extraordinary gemstones, design inspiration and a little Boodles magic. Along the way, they met craftspeople, visited communities supported by our charity partner Just a Drop, and immersed themselves in the colours, culture and wildlife of this remarkable continent. Join us as we retrace their footsteps and discover the stories behind the jewels.
