Silk Mantua | The Palace Collection

Spitalfields was once the home of silk production in England, and the eighteenth-century ‘mantua’ over the page – owned today by Historic Royal Palaces – inspired our design team with its array of brocaded bouquets. An abundance of coloured sapphires, diamonds, garnets and tourmalines form a garden amid leaves set in rose gold.

Silk Mantua Bracelet

Bracelet set with a trio of oval stones: mandarin garnet, pink tourmaline and yellow sapphire. Detailed with pink tourmalines, multi coloured sapphires and diamonds

This suite is inspired by an exquisite mantua crafted in Spitalfields, East London, the hub of silk weaving in the 18th century. The brocaded silk features intricately woven floral motifs, showcasing the technical mastery of English silk artisans. During Queen Charlotte’s reign, Spitalfields silk was mandated for court wear, reinforcing the industry’s significance to London’s economy.
