The Glowing Rose
Boodles is delighted to have designed and set one of nature’s rarest treasures: The Glowing Rose, which will be offered for sale by Sotheby’s.
This extraordinary ring features a 10.08-carat cushion brilliant-cut Fancy Vivid Pink diamond of exceptional quality. To put its rarity into perspective, The Glowing Rose is only the third vivid pink cushion-cut diamond over 10 carats to appear on the market in the past 10 years. Its name reflects its luminous and pure pink colour – a supremely rare occurrence, as most pink diamonds carry secondary modifying hues.

Designed by Boodles
It felt fitting that this ring was specially designed by Boodles, one of the world’s foremost purveyors of pink diamonds. The Boodles Design Team in Liverpool conceived the design, which was then expertly crafted in our London workshop.
The diamond’s extraordinary 10.08-carat cushion shape inspired the ring’s design. Boodles designers created a geometric star pattern on the collet, rising up from the finger and set with Argyle pink diamonds to echo the gemstone within. The platinum band features baguette and brilliant-cut white diamonds, which flow gracefully around the finger, providing a striking contrast to the pink diamond’s vibrant hue.
A subtle chevron of pink diamonds at the end of the row of whites adds a finishing touch and nods to the geometry of the collet. Setting the pink diamonds in Single Mine Origin pink gold further emphasises their vibrancy and highlights the contrast between the platinum and pink.

“Building on the remarkable success of The Mediterranean Blue, we are thrilled to present another extraordinary fancy coloured diamond, this time an exceptional pink diamond, just over 10 carats in weight. The chance to offer The Glowing Rose, a superb and extremely rare coloured diamond, makes this auction moment truly exciting.”
Jessica Wyndham, Head of High Jewellery at Sotheby’s Geneva

A Remarkable Gemstone
The cushion cut was chosen to best showcase the diamond’s saturation, brilliance, and clarity. Cushion cuts are particularly admired in pink diamonds: their rounded corners and unique facet
arrangements enhance the depth and warmth of the hue, creating a marriage of form and fire that is visually irresistible.
The diamond originates from a 21-carat rough extracted in Angola in 2023, responsibly mined and traded under the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, ensuring ethical sourcing. For Boodles and Sotheby’s, provenance matters as much as rarity, giving collectors confidence in the integrity of this remarkable gem.
The Rarity of Pink Diamonds
Less than 0.01% of all diamonds are coloured, with pink being among the rarest. Of all diamonds
graded by the Gemological Institute of America, less than 3% are coloured, and of these, under 5%
are predominantly pink – equating to less than 0.15% of all diamonds graded. Only a tiny proportion
achieve the Fancy Vivid Pink grade, and most of these are under 1 carat in size. A pink diamond over
10 carats, like The Glowing Rose, is therefore extraordinarily rare.
This diamond is also a Type IIa, the purest chemical classification of diamond, representing less than
2% of all gem-quality stones. Its mesmerising pink hue comes not from trace elements, but from
minute distortions in the crystal lattice, creating a vibrant blush unlike any other gemstone.
