Pas de Deux
A collection inspired by the Royal Ballet
In celebration of the partnership, Boodles created “Pas de Deux: Inspired by The Royal Ballet” in 2015; a dynamic collection of jewellery that translated the very essence of dance into intricate diamond and platinum designs.
Enquire about the collection

Boodles’ Director of Design, Rebecca Hawkins, spent many months backstage at the Royal Opera House studying the form and movement of the dancers in order to design the collection. At the centre of Pas de Deux is the idea of a duet – a partnership of two dancers. The collection comprised over 30 varied pieces of fine jewellery, from wearable earrings, pendants and rings to statement collars, cuffs and cocktail rings. The shape of the pieces was inspired by the movement of the dancers in action, while other elements are based on Rebecca’s privileged access to rehearsals, the costume and prop-making departments, archive material, and interviews with the dancers.
"The partnership between Boodles and The Royal Ballet has been an extraordinary coming together of two iconic British companies that combine the very best of their tradition with the contemporary designs and ideas of today. Both are at the very forefront of excellence in their field, each reflecting the same qualities of precision, attention to detail, elegance and beauty."
Alex Beard, CBE. Chief Executive, Royal Opera House

While designing the collection, Rebecca studied the outlines of the dancers’ intertwined bodies and translated them into angular platinum settings, using kite-shaped diamonds to emphasise geometric forms. These were specifically sourced and cut over a period of six months. Within the collection, pairs of Ashoka diamonds are balanced on a single fine point – their precise positioning mirroring the dancers’ skill. The use of rare pink diamonds, as well as gemstones such as morganite and Paraiba tourmalines, adds to the variation and excitement of the collection.
The Royal Ballet: Style Edit
A trip to the ballet is always a magical one. Pair it with jewellery to match the moment – from dazzling pink diamonds to striking Ashoka cuts, this jewellery captures the magic, from the first note to the final bow.
