Boodles Exclusion Policy

Boodles recognises that the mining of gold, diamonds, and gemstones contributes to economic growth and development in many countries. However, mining and trading of these materials can also take place in regions affected by conflict, corruption, or poor governance, which may compromise legitimate and responsible sourcing. In some cases, these activities may lead to human rights abuses, unethical practices, or the funding of conflict.
All gold used by Boodles is sourced as Single Mine Origin (SMO). SMO gold is fully traceable to a single, responsibly managed mine that meets strict environmental, social, and ethical standards. This ensures that every piece of gold used by Boodles is conflict-free and responsibly produced.
Boodles continuously monitors country-level risks relating to the sourcing of diamonds and coloured gemstones. Where necessary, Boodles may exclude certain countries from its supply chain to uphold ethical business practices and responsible sourcing standards.

Grounds for Exclusion

Countries may be excluded where sanctions or trade restrictions are imposed by the United Nations Security Council or the United Kingdom government. Boodles refers to the following primary sources to assess and determine exclusion decisions:

- UK Government Consolidated Financial Sanctions List

- United Nations Security Council Sanctions Information
In addition, Boodles uses other reliable information sources and insights from suppliers, stakeholders, and industry bodies to assess country risk. If conditions improve, Boodles may remove a country from the Exclusion List following review. The current Exclusion List and further details about the criteria can be downloaded.
