The Secret Garden archive collection was inspired by, and created in partnership
with, Marc Munden’s 2020 film adaptation of one of Britain’s most beloved stories,
The Secret Garden. Drawing on Mary Lennox’s journey and her discovery of a hidden
garden, the 40 piece collection captured the wonder, beauty and mystery at the
heart of the tale. Influenced by both the novel and key moments from the film,
Boodles’ designers turned to nature, garden architecture, costume design and
interior details to create a series of pieces, each expressing this distinctly British
collaboration with wonderful imagination.

The Story of The Secret Garden
Orphaned in India, Mary Lennox was sent to live with her uncle in Yorkshire, where she discovered a lonely, hidden world within his vast house. It was there that she uncovered a secret garden - an overgrown, forgotten place that would quietly transform her life.
The Inspiration
Inspired by the imagination and visual richness of The Secret Garden, the collection drew on the story’s jewel-like details and natural beauty. Boodles’ designers translated these elements into 40 pieces that captured its colour, light and magic, blending the charm of the original tale with the visual splendour of the film adaptation.
Special Stones
The collection showcases a rich palette of gemstones, combining luminous white diamonds with an array of vibrant coloured stones, including sea pearls, pink tourmalines, rare pink opal, yellow diamonds, tsavorites and sapphires. Among the most striking were the Verdure Rings, inspired by a moment in which Mary’s bedroom wallpaper comes to life, captured through sweeping compositions of yellow and white diamonds surrounding a vivid tourmaline at their centre.
Behind The Design
The collection drew inspiration from the central themes and vivid imagery of The Secret Garden, with each piece reflecting moments of renewal, discovery and transformation. From delicate snowdrops symbolising new beginnings to vibrant poppies, walled gardens in bloom and the iconic key to the hidden garden, the designs captured the story’s most evocative scenes.

The Secret Garden collection is distinguished by its intricate and highly decorative designs, each requiring an exceptional level of craftsmanship to realise - from finely detailed settings to complex compositions of gemstones.
Chelsea Flower Show
Not only the inspiration behind this archive collection, The Secret Garden also framed Boodles’ Chelsea Flower Show design in 2021, a contemporary interpretation of the journey to an enchanted, life-changing sanctuary.
Supporting NSPCC
As part of The Secret Garden collaboration, Boodles was proud to support the
NSPCC through the creation of a specially designed bracelet. Inspired by the story’s
themes of wellbeing and renewal, Mary’s Bracelet featured brilliant-cut diamonds
set in yellow, white or rose gold. In keeping with the spirit of the partnership, every
penny from each bracelet sold was donated to the NSPCC, helping to support the
vital work they do to protect and care for children.
