Boodles

Chester Races

We all look forward to the Chester races at Boodles.  It is a fabulous day out and very special due to its prestigious location and incredibly special and buzzy atmosphere.  This year we are delighted to be adding to the sparkle of Ladies Day with the first 'Boodles Ladies Day'.  Boodles will also be the proud sponsor of one of the main races on the day.  We hope that our involvement makes this special occasion even more memorable and sparkly for our friends and guests and hope to see as many of you there as possible to join in the fun and maybe even win some money on the winner!

Boodles at Brideshead October 2008

We were delighted when Emma Thompson popped into Boodles the other day and even more thrilled when she wore a number of quintessentially Boodles pieces to the premiere of Brideshead Revisited.

Dressed in a chocolate silk coat dress and fabulous patent boots the much celebrated and sparkly actress twinkled like mad in fire opal and diamond Caberet earrings, a pink and white diamond Waterfall bangle and  a Raindance Ring.

Director Julian Jarrold's Brideshead Revisited is based on Evelyn Waugh's fabulous 1945 classic British novel and can be seen in cinemas from 3rd October 2008.

It's Party Time!  Summer 2008

Fine jewellery is synonymous with celebrations and Boodles love a good party.  It is a wonderful opportunity to spend time with our clients and meet new friends and to thank people for their support.

A show stopping collection like Wonderland needed more than one party and so we proceeded to organise them all over the United Kingdom.

London hosted a glittering event at the fabulous Haymarket Hotel.  Bejewelled ballerinas danced the night away around a flower festooned pool, to the uplifting music of Jackson Scott and Mano de Dios.  The room was bustling and the dance floor was crowded and those who wanted to relax were happy to have a sparkling make over at the Bobbi Brown area.

Other cities followed suit with cocktail parties galore in Manchester, Liverpool, Chester and Dublin.

The Wonderland pieces also made a guest appearance at the magical event to celebrate Liverpool's year as Capital of Culture.  Nicholas Wainwright hosted a fabulous evening of Shakespeare at Knowsley Hall.  The gardens were filled with neon bright flowers and bird and butterfly decorations, RADA performed perfectly and Fortum & Mason picnics provided hours of entertainment and rather scrumptious suppers.  At the end of the evening Lord Derby kindly made a super speech and revealed that Knowsley Hall was the place where Shakespeare himself started writing.  It truly was the perfect venue.

From one magnificent home to another, this time the British Ambassador's residence in Dublin - Glencairn.  David Reddaway's summer party always attracts a glamourous crowd and they proved to be the perfect guests to present Wonderland to.

Soon it will be the Festive Season and as we hurtle towards Christmas, Boodles' Social Diary just gets busier!  Look out for the next installment.

The Launch of Boodles Magazine Summer 2008

Summer 2008 saw the launch of Boodles Magazine, the first of what we hope to be many glossy and eye-catching publications especially for our clients.

Editor Zoe Manzi and her inspiring and dedicated team from Conde Nast worked tirelessly to atract some of the best writers in the business who brought their own perspective and opinions to a range of issues close to Boodles heart.

From Dylan Jones' thoughts on what it means to be British, to Carol Woolton's opinions on the eternal appeal of the diamond this varied and colourful publication has been created to entertain people and reveal a little more of the Boodles spirit and enjoyment of life.

Should you wish to receive a copy of the magazine please do not hesitate to call your nearest shop and request one.

RADA and Boodles

Besides Boodles passion for sport in the form of fabulous tennis tournaments or glossy horse races, Boodles also has a strong partnership with a number of creative organisations.

One of these is RADA, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and a company that has always been synonymous with teaching the highest possible level of skills to the most talented young actors, designers, directors, stage managers and technicians.  Some of the most celebrated graduates include Kenneth Branagh, Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman and Diana Rigg and these people remain great supporters of RADA itself.

As patrons of the RADA Buddy scheme, Boodles helps to instigate relationships, (fuelled by a glass of bubbly and a canape or two!) between the alumni and the students.  This gives the students close links with those working in the profession and someone to advise and support them throughout their final year.

Boodles also support The Tree, an end-of-course performance attended by agents and industry movers and shakers - this is a nerve-wracking and exciting time for the students as they find out whether someone will invest in their talent and assist them in finding work and developing their career.

For Boodles there are a multitude of benefits, following the rise of Britain's young acting talent, helping to support people in this highly competitive and demanding area and also, rather wonderfully, being able to take clients to some of the students fabulous performances throughout the year.

It is certainly worth keeping your programmes and remembering names for many of these young performers are destined to be the next generation of acclaimed actors and household names.

English National Ballet

Not content with acting alone, Boodles further investigated possibilities within the arts world and are absolutely thrilled to be working with and supporting English National Ballet.

They certainly are one of the world's great ballet companies.  The original 1950's vision for the Company was to take classical ballet of the highest quality to the widest geographical audience, at a price everyone can afford and it remains the cornerstone of the Company's philosophy today.

As a flagship company for the nation, English National Ballet felt like the perfect company for Boodles to form a partnership with.  On the 9th June 2008 we commenced our relationship with them at the Boodles Wonderland Party when twelve dancers, wearing the one-off high jewellery designs, performed beautiful freestyle dances on podiums and added further sparkle and wow to this magical collection.

Christmas will see the highlight of our relationship when principal dances from the Company join us at our parties across the country to perform excerpts from well-known and much loved ballets such as The Nutcracker and Swan Lake.

This down to earth, welcoming and highly acclaimed dance company share so many of Boodles own values it is a delight to work with them.

Boodles Boxing Ball June 2008

On the evening of Saturday 7th June 2008, six boys and two girls from the London social scene prepared to fight in front of a crowd of 1,000 young socialites.

After a glittering reception, dinner and an auction for the Starlight Foundation, which grants wishes for terminally ill children, the fighting began.  The music and the fists pounded and the excitement was tangible.

Yet again the ball raised a large sum of money for charity, attracted extensive media coverage and attracted some rather prestigious and enthusiastic guests!

The Boodles Challenge and The Nations Cup Summer 2008

How better to feed your passion for sport, in particular tennis, than create your own tennis championships.  Boodles did just that and each year thousands of guests visit the Boodles Challenge at Stoke Park or the Boodles Nations Cup at Adlington Hall.

These are two of the most relaxed and glamourous tennis events of the Summer - they are not just memorable sporting events and an opportunity to see some of the great names in tennis playing  in an intimate venue - they are also parties, a chance to socialise, picnic with friends and at The Nations Cup one can even end the day with post match music and entertainment.

The Nations Cup attracts the international legends of tennis such as Henri Leconte, Mansour Bahrami and Peter McNamara.  The Boodles Challenge players have also included a roll call of illustrious tennis figures including Pete Sampras, Boris Becker, Rafael Nadal and this year Andy Murray.

For those who are competing in Wimbledon The Boodles Challenge  is a perfectly timed warm up on a grass court.  For the players at The Nations Cup it is all about the entertainment and enjoyment of the sport ... and it shows!

We are now looking forward to 2009 and another summer of aces - gourmet hampers, courtside seats and of course fabulous sparkles!

British Ambassador's Summer Party in Dublin July 2008

This year Boodles will once again be sponsoring British Ambassador David Reddaway's Summer Party in the grounds of his magnificent Glencairn residence in Dublin.  The 19th century garden, which lies at the foothills of the Wicklow mountains, is the perfect backdrop for Boodles latest designs.  For the uninitiated, the July bash is a stylish affair.  Last year fashion shows, live music and Bentley test drives set the tone for the event, while Boodles aquamarine and diamond Spaghetti ring garnered particular attention: the sparkler was the top prize in a charity competition.
